Hey everybody. I'm new here, so I guess I'll say hi. I'm having some issues with my Intel Ultimate N 6300 Wi-Fi adapter in my Lenovo W530. Two main issues, and they may be related. At my college, the Wi-Fi has a password, and then a log-in web page, or a "Captive Portal", from what I gather.
The problem is that this web page won't come up right away, if it even comes up at all. Chrome always says either "No Connection" or that it's a DNS issue. I've tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew, but to no avail. This problem has existed since day one, I just haven't really had the time to deal with it(we use network cables in our classes).
My second problem is that, when my friends make an ad-hoc wireless network, and share their internet, I can't use the internet. I can connect, but I always get the yellow error symbol on my wi-fi, and I get no internet access. These two problems seem like they could be related, as I am the only one who has either of these problems. My friends, and my cell phone, have no problems with the school wifi, and my friends laptop can connect to the ad-hoc and be watching YouTube on it.
Please help, if you can. I've tried downgrading my driver, but other than that I don't know what else to do.
