My needs are simple: I am setting up IIS-7 FTP for a WORKGROUP in my own house. DNS is not needed, I login by IP. Clients are another WIN 7 machine and a WebCam that uses FTP to save "intruder" videos. I have set up IIS FTP in WIN XP at work many times.
I used this tutorial:
How to setup an FTP Server in Windows using IIS by Britec - YouTube from Britec.
With much effort I got everything in the video to work including the test performed on my machine hosting the FTP. I can test from a CMD window with ftp xxx.xxx.x.xx and log in as me. I can GET and PUT files. From another PC there is a long pause after ftp then an ftp> prompt but no login. The camera simply does not save any files with no indication why.
Directory permissions should be OK since the same login locally can save files.
I added call forwarding port 21 to my router but I think that is only for outside the building.
I have many hours invested and I'm almost there. Help!
