Wireless network works but LAN cannot connect to internet

iPhones, iPad and laptop can all connect through the wireless router but our desktop PC cannot. When diagnosing the problem I get the message "Your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding" . In addition to other similar threads I've read, our PC cannot find the local printer it is connected to either.

    I have:
    - recycled the cable modem (Comcast)
    - reconfigured the wireless router and restarted
    - disabled IPv6
    - ensured IPv4 is set to obtain IP address automatically (have also tried specifying DNS address to be the same as the router)
    - tried the flushdns, release, renew sequence from a command prompt
    - made sure the DNS in ipconfig is the same as the router IP (192.168.1.142 and 192.168.1.1)
    - uninstalled McAfee
    - turned off Windows firewall
    - restarted in safe mode and run Malwarebytes and SpyBot
    - turned off all sharing in the advanced sharing settings
    - removed programs like Apple's Bonjour that I had read could mess up network settings
    - tried to find drivers to reinstall for the NIC card for the LAN (Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet) but ours appears to be old enough that Broadcom no longer lists the correct driver as an option in their directory

None of this has worked. In the last few weeks, doing a system restore from a previous point worked to fix the problem but when Windows would download updates (12 year old user that forgot to choose not to download updates upon exiting) the problems would start up again. Now there is no restore point far enough back to have this solution work. This makes me think it's a Windows security update issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The McAfee problem is old news around here. It needs to be removed as per the link below if you want the problem to be fixed.

I might as well post the link again for the millionth time.

If you are still having problems please post the ipconfig/all from this machine.

McAfee has already been uninstalled. After reading some of the other posts I tried that as one of the first steps.

Both of those have valid IP's and show that you are online, that is unless something is blocking the connection.

You should also remove the DNS entries from the IPv4 properties as it appears your router is set up to handle DNS.

Just uninstalling McAfee won't work, you need to use the special removal tool for this, please read the link I provided and follow the instructions.

Ok. I've gone back and used the removal tool. Option 1 would not work but Option 2 did. Nothing has changed. I still cannot connect. Any other thoughts?

Hmm very strange as it shows you are online but maybe the network stack or something is messed up hard to say from what I'm seeing here.

Try saving the file below, unzip and run the file, your machine will reboot itself.
