Network connection issues - network storage

    Hi,
Can anyone help me with an issue I am having with my local network?
I connected a Western Digital 500GB USB 3.0 HDD to my Netgear N300 router via the USB readyshare connection so that everyone on the network can have access... BUT
While I can see and access the (readyshare) HDD from my laptop running win7, I cant see or access the (readyshare) HDD from my HTC Android phone or my WDTV Live Media Hub.
The WDTV is connected to the router via Ethernet and successfully connects to the internet, all other devices connect using wireless access. I have the latest firmware.
I performed a search the other day through google and it appears I may need to download an app for the phone to have access to the (readyshare) HDD... ?
I can connect the (readyshare) HDD directly to the WDTV, but it means swapping and changing everytime I want access from a different device.
I have been unable to locate any documentation from Netgear or Western Digital. I would love to smooth out the crinkles on this one as I have plans to upgrade the network storage and incorporate a new desktop into the network.
    Any ideas??

Hi gemini2010, how about using 'SkyDrive', I can access it from anywhere but the app is not installed on any of my computers.

I have a Netgear R6300 router and have a IPhone app I can use to access the router. I can stream into my Iphone or IPad using this app as long as I'm within the wifi range of the router. I don't know if there is a android app. Its a nifty app that now my wife can watch one show on her IPad while I'm watching another show being streamed through the PS3 on the TV.
