Internet not working

I have a Toshiba C660 running W7 64 bit.

I can connect to the internet via an ethernet cable but when trying to connect to my wireless network through Wi-Fi it doesn't work. I can't see any other wireless networks so it's not an issue with my router.

Any ideas why it won't work?

Edit: I think it may be down to the wireless drivers.

I have found this website but I'm unsure from that list which driver to install.

Help please.

Try using Windows Update to check for some updates on most drivers and programs. Usually there are tons of updates for several different drivers.

You could try the Atheros driver for Windows 7 x64 here and post back with any results you get. If that doesn't work, then just uninstall the driver by going to Start -> (right click on Computer, select "Manage"). Then direct to "Device Manager". Search for your Network Adapters, and "Uninstall" your Wireless driver. Use an Ethernet connection to try and "Scan for hardware changes" and run another Windows Update task from Control Panel.

I did what you said but Windows can't find any updates for my driver and checking for updates via control panel came up with no success. I now have no wireless driver

I don't know which one it is to install it again

Any ideas?

So what I am saying is when I go to control panel - network and connections etc... It used to say Wireless Network Connection and I could enable/disable it.

The Wireless Network Connection does not show as I assume it is down to a lack of a wireless driver. I'm finding it hard to find a wireless driver for the above. I keep seeing LAN driver w/e that is.

The link you have given is for a different laptop and also the problem is I can't activate the Wi-Fi switch. I need to press FN + F8 but the function key combinations don't work at all.

Go into your device manger and see if anything appears for your wireless.

After you know which type you have in your system go here and get the dirvers.

I did what you said but it only displays the driver for my LAN connection.

As I have no wireless driver it doesn't display any information.

The info you provided is useful if you want to upgrade a driver but to do that I first need to install a driver.

I'm struggling to install the wireless driver.

Which do you think I need of the drivers in this list?

I'm trying to get my wireless connection back by installing a wireless driver for my laptop called TOSHIBA Satellite Pro C660 PSC0RE.

The link I provided i'm pretty sure matches my laptop make and model.

From start menu you can run msinfo32 press enter. Then go into Components>Network>Adapter and see if there is anything in there.

But after looking at the site a little harder the only (WLAN) Drivers for Windows 7 was this one.

Unless you have a WiMax but I think you would know if you did.

You can also probably remove part of the back and access the Wlan adapter. I dont know exactly which area it is in though.

If the Broadcom doesnt work try this one.

I now have "Wireless Network Connections" listed in control panel alongside my LAN connection.

However when running a diagnositic it says "Wireless Capability is turned off" on my laptop.

Confused, FN & F8 doesn't enable it like it should.

Did Fn&F8 ever work? Sure it's that key?

Do you have other special keys like FN&F7 are they working?
