    Windows briefcase across a network

Hi there and all the best to everyone for the New Year.....

I have several computers all Win 7 connected in a home network and everyone can see each other and transfer files using homegroup, however I wanted to be able to sync the contents a folder on the main PC with a laptop using the windows briefcase function across a network rather than manually transferring new files each time I updated the main folder. According to the instructions given by W7 you create a new briefcase on one PC, copy to the other then use the "update all" command to sync them together however this does not seem to work and I keep getting "you need permission etc etc... " despite me being able to copy individual files from any computer to another ? Looking at the properties, you don't seem to be able give permissions to other users in the network.

Suggestions please what I need to do to get this working ?

    Thank you.
