Wireless adapter not showing Windows cant detect I installed a microsoft mouse and when I did the restart my wireless
completely dissapered. I can get a conection using a cable, and the wire
less signal is there because I am on in now (android) So... I`ll list every
thing I've already tried so not to waste anyones time.
After the Complete system restore...which I saw the wireless stuff reinstall
I thought I was gtg..but sadly not even that worked.
I looked up the drivers and tried installing, that failed. When you look
in the device manager there is no wireless adapter
It's an Acer Aspire 5253, win 7/64
I have spent days reading and trying to find the solution
hopefully someone that knows can give me some help
Thanks.. | My System Specs |

Thanks.. You might try using System Restore to go back to a point in time before the mouse drivers were installed.
If you can use the wired connection it may be worth while to check if Windows updates has anything for you. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built OS Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8 Pro, CPU Q9650-4.275GHz, E8600 4.5GHz, E6750-3.8GHz Motherboard Evga 780i FTW Memory G.Skill PC2 9600 1200Mhz 5 5 5 15 2T Graphics Card GTX480 Sound Card Asus Xonar D2 Monitor(s) Displays HannsG Screen Resolution 1680X1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU ThermalTake Toughpower 1000Watt modular Case ThermalTake XaserV Cooling Xigmatek S1283 Hard Drives GSkill Phoenix Pro 120GB SSD Internet Speed T1 |

Hi Chev65, yea That actually was the very first thing I did...it didn't chang anything. Then I tried to update the drivers...didn't work, then I just threw caution to the wind and did a complete reinstall using acer out of the box restore. That also failed. The wifi adapter is totally gone from the device manager. When I tried to install the drivers after the fresh install it said that there was no wireless card... to reinsert...which I'm not sure how to do...like I stated, the cable still works only wifi is down...but the router is broadcasting...we use the wifi on our smart phones so it's for sure indicitive to this laptop. Thanks so much for your help thus far....any more ideas? I'm going to buy a usb wireless today but really would like to solve the issue. I'm maybe 3 months past warranty and we have like 60 hours only so it's not a hard used old machine we're dealing with. Again thanks for your time and assistance Chev65. | My System Specs

I would clean reinstall Windows 7 but before installing, I would obtain all the drivers for your Acer 5253 from the manufactures web site. Save them to a USB stick if required. Actually this was what I did when I did the fresh install. If I remember there was 3- 4 wireless drivers.
I tried but it tells me that therr is no pci wireless card installed, that's why I opened it up and pulled it out
then pushed it back in, but I'm still just totally puzzled...how can it simply and
totally disappear from the devise manager, never seen anything like this.
Oh also when I hit the fn +f3 it says nothing is it possible that the PCI card no
Longer works?
Thank you so much for the help so far...wish it would just start the same way it stopped. All of a sudden...fat
chance that'll happen. Should I just get a new wireless card? | My System Specs

That is strange, you might try cleaning the part of the card where the card goes into the slot. Or just try using an USB NIC.
Running the sfc/scannow command might be worth while.
Another clean install would be my first option though, try going to windows updates after the clean install using a wired connection first. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built OS Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8 Pro, CPU Q9650-4.275GHz, E8600 4.5GHz, E6750-3.8GHz Motherboard Evga 780i FTW Memory G.Skill PC2 9600 1200Mhz 5 5 5 15 2T Graphics Card GTX480 Sound Card Asus Xonar D2 Monitor(s) Displays HannsG Screen Resolution 1680X1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU ThermalTake Toughpower 1000Watt modular Case ThermalTake XaserV Cooling Xigmatek S1283 Hard Drives GSkill Phoenix Pro 120GB SSD Internet Speed T1 |

Ok I'll try the scan I did use the hard wire when I did the first fresh install. Yes this has got to be right up there with strange and weird. I'm just stumped, as is anyone I tell about this...Acer, well they're no help whatsoever but then I can't say that I'm surprised on that. Once agin I am just ever so thankful that you're helping, it may be that I'll have to get a new pci wireless card...what I'm worried about is what if I get one and it Still won't work...it's not like they cost a fortune or anything...but it just eats away at me that this can't be solved. How does this happen...it may go down as the unresolvable issue. so I'll do the scan...then try another fresh install....and install the drivers and see where we're at.....thanks again! | My System Specs | | Wireless adapter not showing Windows cant detect problems?
