edit: Driver update did not solve. When you look at Add/remove programs, does it list any type of Intel software there?

Thanks. Please uninstall the Intel Network Connections software. OK...I did that, but as expected I now have no LAN connection either.
I already downloaded the update from the Intel site and reloaded that last week, so not sure what next.
Thanks. | My System Specs

Ok, I'll assume that you reinstalled the software.
The only possibility is that something is blocking the connection, most likely an A/V software which may be installed on the system or was removed at one time.
Have you tried to start up in safe mode with Networking to see if the problem persists?
This Unidentified Network problem is fairly common but there are many solutions. The link below mentions one type of fix where you type the default gateway into the IPv4 properties.
There are many other solutions in the comment section below the main article. http://pocketpccentral.net/blog/2009...blem-resolved/ | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built OS Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8 Pro, CPU Q9650-4.275GHz, E8600 4.5GHz, E6750-3.8GHz Motherboard Evga 780i FTW Memory G.Skill PC2 9600 1200Mhz 5 5 5 15 2T Graphics Card GTX480 Sound Card Asus Xonar D2 Monitor(s) Displays HannsG Screen Resolution 1680X1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU ThermalTake Toughpower 1000Watt modular Case ThermalTake XaserV Cooling Xigmatek S1283 Hard Drives GSkill Phoenix Pro 120GB SSD Internet Speed T1 |

I did try the safe-mode with Net last week, and the same thing.
I have Microsoft Security Essentials only on this PC...It's the only AV that has been installed. I did turn that off also, but same results. Turned Windows Firewall off also.
It's pretty consistent that it gives me ~5 minutes of internet access, then cuts off. All mapped drives on the LAN remain working.
Thanks. | My System Specs

This 5 minute time limit is very strange and probably impossible to track down the source, usually something installed on the system would cause this but safe mode with networking usually will weed that out.
You might try running my IPresetAll file, in case it's a strange problem with the network stack or something else, this will reset everything in the network. Just unzip and run the file, your machine will reboot itself. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built OS Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8 Pro, CPU Q9650-4.275GHz, E8600 4.5GHz, E6750-3.8GHz Motherboard Evga 780i FTW Memory G.Skill PC2 9600 1200Mhz 5 5 5 15 2T Graphics Card GTX480 Sound Card Asus Xonar D2 Monitor(s) Displays HannsG Screen Resolution 1680X1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU ThermalTake Toughpower 1000Watt modular Case ThermalTake XaserV Cooling Xigmatek S1283 Hard Drives GSkill Phoenix Pro 120GB SSD Internet Speed T1 Unidentified Network/Internet access problems?
