Hi there,

Need some pretty quick help here if possible! I have a USB external wifi antenna, and my laptop has an internal one. My aim is to basically receive internet through the external one and great a little hotspot by the internal one. I was wondering if this was possible?

I'd tried with Ad-hoc networks but for some reason other devices couldn't connect to the network I created. I'm just wondering what I could've done wrong!

Anyways, I hope this makes sense! If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated! I will award all help with rep :)!

All the best,

Music Guy

Ok, you only require one wireless NIC in order to create a hosted wireless network, you can receive and send the wireless through a single NIC. You can use either one for this but you don't need both.

You can use the command prompt to set this up but using the connectify software might be a better choice if you want to connect on start up. You can also do this with a virtual router, take your pick. :)

This one shows the manual set up using the command prompt.

Or you can install a virtual router.

Hi there,

Thanks, I used connectify, it seems to have worked! Virtual router wouldn't pick up my usb adapter for some reason! But it's all sorted now!

Thank you very much for your time, all the best.

Yes the virtual adaptor makes it all possible.

Glad you have the hosted wireless network working now.
