Laptop cannot connect to the internet.

    Please kindly help. Thanks.
Operating System: Windows 7 Home premium.
It is my sister's Laptop by the way.

Her laptop will connect to the Router via wireless, but will display "Limited Connectivity".
When I open Network & Sharing Center on her laptop, the internet map didn't show up. The thing which should be seen as "View your active networks", is showing instead "Unknown". In it shows "The dependency service or group failed to start." I also tried wired connection, but to my surprise, it doesn't work!

This is really confusing. I tried several command prompt commands:
    Code:
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log hit
they won't work! Need more help!

P.S. The screenshots show two different aero themes. The one that is black is my laptop, the one that is pink is my sister's laptop.
P.S. I also found out my laptop was able to grab more wireless networks than my sister's

Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings > Right Click on Local Area Connection and click on Properties. Double click on TCP/IPv4.
Make sure Obtain IP Address Automatically & Obtain DNS Server address automatically is selected.

If that doesnt work, Right click on Local Area Connection and click on Diagnose. See if Windows 7 is able to detect the problem.

The thing is that, the laptop doesn't know that it is plugged in. btw, it is the laptop's problem, not the wire having a cut or some sort because i used it on my laptop. I did the diagnose on the wireless and it shows... Still, after doing the repair as administrator, it still won't work properly.

I'd suggest you to do a Repair Install

EDIT: Please have a look at this guide. It might help.

I found out the root cause: misconfiguration. I checked the proper info and found out that the dns server was showing a ipv6 address instead of a ipv4 address. I then manually configured it and it worked. One thing that isn't working is the internet map(graph that shows how pc connects to the internet). I am not sure if the problem lies with the adapter or something, but will check with the manufacturer. Thanks though :).

And now, it won't even show up! (wireless device and the local area connection)
