    Windows 7:Network Home Premium->Pro?

    My W-7 Pro won't "see" the Homegroup that was created on a W-7 Home Premium 32 bit. The two are both wired to a Linksys Router. Previously the two machines had their own Homegroups. I've disabled the Home Premium Homegroup and created a new one. The Pro old Homegroup won't disable, and it won't join the Home Premium Homegroup.

    Any ideas as what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanx

    You should try leaving "not disabling" the Homegroup from machines, then create a new Homegroup on the W7 pro machine and join that Homegroup with the W7 HP machine.

    Pro->Home Premium Homegroup OK:But No Printer

    The advice of forming a Homegroup worked, Home Premium PC is networked to Pro PC.
    But the Home Premium machine printer is not seen by Pro machine.
    Thanx :)

    Wrong They May Not Be Networked

    When Control Panel maps the network, it sees the W-7 Pro machine but says it cannot be mapped. This was after I created a Homegroup on the Pro machine, and joined the Home Premium machine using the password of the Pro Homegroup.

    This would explain why the printer is not seen by the Pro, but why can't the HomPre machine map the Pro machine?

    So the Homegroup set up worked but you can't access the folders on each machine?

    Mapping isn't required unless you need access to a drive on the other machine.

    You should have access to the entire Users folder on each machine so the C:>Users folder needs permissions set correctly like the picture, this should be on the sharing tab of the C:>Users folder.

    Homegroup Shares Files But Not Printer

    The saga continues...
    New Homegroup was created and shares almost everything. A printer is connected to one machine but the Homegrouped W-7 Pro machine can't access it. Previously two HomPrem macines were Homegrouped and the printer was connected to the one machine but used by both. Now I'm Homegrouping a Pro and a HomPrem and that is the only difference I can think of.

    I'll appreciate any ideas. I'll credit anyone who helps me solve this, I don't want to buy another printer. It's been suggested that I use a Pro installation disk , but I bought the Pro machine used with the O/S installed already, I don't own a disk.
    Thanx
