From a Elevated Command Prompt:

netsh interface show interface - to get a list of interfaces.

netsh interface set interface name="Local Area Connection 2" newname="Local Area Connection" - to change the name./

Actually, you could make newname anything you want, like "Fred's Internet" or "My Network Connection".

Thank you for your answer. I tried renaming the Local Area Connection 3 back to its original name (Local Area Connection) and I came up with this. How can I reset the numbers on all of my connections? I understand that there must already be a connection with that name, that's why I am coming up with an error obviously, but that's as far as my knowledge goes.

They are Wireless connections, not Local Area Connections, so:

netsh interface set interface name="Wireless Network Connection 7" newname="Wireless Network Connection"

should work. Then you need to remove the extra Wireless connections: Wireless Network - Remove
