    How to share data in windows 7


    Me and my friend are using 1 dsl internet connection.i want to share a folder with him.In windows xp i just share the folder and he was able to access it through workgroup. I tried to share a folder in windows 7 but my friend is not able to access it from workgroup.

    The easiest to share files with the XP machine from the Windows 7 machine is to allow for sharing using the "Sharing tab" on the C:>Users>Public folder.

    After that you can just put the folders you want to share into one of the Public folders and it will be easily accessed from the XP machine. This is much easier and safer than adding Everyone to the Advanced sharing settings of the C:>Users folder.

    You will also need to enable Public file sharing at the Network and Sharing Center> Advanced Sharing Settings.

    The picture below shows the process,. You need to add the check mark "second picture", then you can click on the Advanced Sharing tab, Click on the Permissions tab to add check marks for access levels, click Apply>Apply again, etc. :)
