No Internet access when connecting LAN cable

Hello everyone!

I've been using Windows 7 for a couple of months now but since a few days ago I noticed something very strange. At home, I use a wireless connection, but at the office I have to connect my laptop to the network via a LAN cable. So, upon inserting it in the ethernet port and a moment's wait, the network is recognized, I got a local access - but no internet. Did all I could think of, including restrting DNS Client service, renewing ip address... nothing helped. Strangely enough a couple of restarts of the computer magically solve the problem - at least for the day. Next day - it's the same story all over again.

Does anyone of you know what might be causing this issue and accordingly - how to solve it?

Hey. If your LAN connection and wireless are bridged in the network connection part of the control panel, that could be the problem. If this is the case I work around it by deleting the bridge, then disabling my network card (from the network connections screen) and enable it again, then the connections should be fine

I had/have the same problem, but I believe mine stems from the network bridge driver. My desktop doesnt have wireless and i dont really have a router, so i just use an Ethernet cable connect it to my laptop (which has wireless), then bridge the connection, thats when Windows 7 gets upset and no matter what i do I can't connect to any wireless networks.
The only workaround I have been able to come up with is by first bridging the connection, then disabling my laptops wireless network connection, then reenable it again, and connect to the wireless network. Its a real pain but for now I guess it will have to do.

Never has it crossed my mind to bridge connections. Thank you for the answer, but this is not the case, unfortunately. The WiFi and LAN connections are at two different places and it's only the wired one that's causing the problems.

Any other ideas?

You are able to get onto your work LAN, but internet connection is having issues? does not sound like it's your laptop, however have u tried disabling Ipv6?

I bet its a DNS issue. Since you have lan, but not wan can you ping the router/switch?

try ipconfig /renew

You know how when you connect to a network - whatever network - in Network and Sharing Center you get a scheme - PC-router-internet. Well, in my case, I have a working connection to the "router" but no internet access (i.e. a red cross on the line to "internet").

Yes, I also tried disabling IPv6 but it changed nothing. The strange thing - that makes me believe there is some setting on my laptop that could be done to solve the problem - is that after a few restarts the problem automatically disappears: voilà, I have internet access...

zigzag3143, did all those stuff, remember - both restarting DNS client service and ipconfig/renew. And yes, I can ping local servers.

I don't think anyone's come up with a solution. At least I haven't. The problem has not appeared recently for me, but maybe it's because I stopped using hybernation and just have the computer boot up.
