Activated DWA-547 wireless card, but unable to see any wifi network

    Hello people.

I have a major issue with my wireless card.
    I'll explain quickly.

    - I had a trendnet wifi adaptater in PCI which I could get to work anymore after trying to desinstall/resintall. (loosing connection in the middle of online games)
    - I bought a D-Link DWA-547 Pci wifi card, believing my old card was dead. (I tried it on a older computer with XP it runs perfectly).
    - I installed the new card, no problem.
    - now the card is activated in the "network connections" tab (it is even green just like seeing a few wifi networks). but I cannot see any wifi networks, and there are a lot nearby.
    - I have tried to unistall/reinstall my new card. no luck.
    - I have connected myself to Internet by RJ-45 to put everything up-to-date, no luck.
    - I have tried to desactivate/reactivate my card.
    - i uninstall "bonjour" as I read somewhere this could be the problem. still no luck.

    - furthermore, when activated when i'm using the command line ipconfig/all, the wifi card does not appear in this command line.
    - I tried the ipconfig/renew it says "the operation has failed because no card has the autorised status for this operation" (i'm translating it from french, so maybe it's not the exact words).

maybe a clean install would be THE solution, but I really would try not to do that.

    please help!!

    Welcome to Seven Forums,

I'd verify from your computer's BIOS if LAN and WLAN support are both enabled.

Depending on the Model of your computer, when you retart it you may either select F1 or F2 to go the BIOS setup.

    cheers.

    Well maybe I wasn't clear.
The LAN does indeed work (I connected to the net in order to update Windows etc etd).
now the WLAN is with a PCI card. I check and put back the default settings in the BIOS, no luck. Furthermore, when the problems started I didn't go in the BIOS.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Have yout tried using a different PCI slot? Perhaps swap it with the LAN Card's slot?

Can you see the Wi-Fi device in Device Manager? Any of these symbols (X ! or ?) on it?

Also, when you installed the driver for the Wi-Fi card, is there a wireless utility software installed?

Can you please post the ipconfig /all for review?

    Ok.
So yes, I tried the 2 PCI slots. (LAN is on the motherboard).
The wifi utility is like windows, not seeing any wifi network.
There is no x or ! on the device (it's written to be activated and green, but that's it).
As for the ipconfig/all, i'll do that in a moment (i'm now on my laptop.)

Please make sure that DHCP for your WLAN settings is enabled:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...CP-IP-settings

Verify that all your Network Services are Started from Control Panel.
Click on start and type services.msc press enter. On Dependency Tab, check the Dependecies make sure that they are also Started.
    • COM+ Event System (for WZC issues)
    • Computer Browser
    • DHCP Client
    • DNS Client
    • Network Connections
    • Network Location Awareness
    • Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
    • Server
    • TCP/IP Netbios helper
    • WLAN AutoConfig (for Vista and Windows 7 only)
    • Workstation

Post another ipconfig /all output in a text file.
If you would like a text file output. From the command prompt (black screen), Copy and Paste these ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt then press enter. You will find the output in your Local Disk ‘C’. Attach the file on your next post.

Ok, so all the services you asked are enabled (started).
here is my ipconfig/all text. I started my LAN network and my bluetooth (none are connected to anything, but so you can see there is no MAC address for the WLAN)

    Thx!

    Hi again.

Well finally, I got it fixed.
I spend a few hours on the net, seeing a few leeds in services.msc

I updated the driver for my wireless card AND the nvidia drivers.
    Restarted and Boom, it works.

Actually I have no idea what really made it, but thx everyone!
