Ok. Odd that it shows you are joined to a homegroup in one section, but not in the other.

Forgive these questions, but just double checking.

What do those screens look like on the desktop?

Is both the laptop and desktop running with a user logged in Windows?

Are both computers' network location type set to be a "home" network.

I'm afraid that I've reached the limit of my networking knowledge.

I've requested more help, so hopefully they will be able to further help soon.

What is your network name for each PC, shown when you left click the connection icon in bottom-right System Tray?

Can we see a screenshot of Start>Devices and Printers on each.

Also, type Homegroup in Start Search box to view and compare each Homegroup password to make sure they are the same. If not leave one Homegroup and accept offer to join other..

No idea what the problem might be and difficult to work on problems like this through a forum. The link below may be helpful.

If there are any third party anti virus or firewalls involved then they will need to be uninstalled or reconfigured to allow access.
