Remote connection, cannot do it!

Hello, I have a rather simple question. How can I remote into my home computer from an outside computer (that is not on my network)? Is that the only thing remote desktop is used for, for comoputers on my network only? I cannot remote in from work, for example? I have tried join.me logmein, etc and none seem to be sufficient. I'd like to know steps in order to do this

Maybe you should try teamviewer? I find it great and very useful TeamViewer - Free Remote Control, Remote Access & Online Meetings

Try TeamViewer because it is easier to setup.

If really want remote desktop connection, then read this tutorial:

You should also consider this update:
