Permission to Xnsfer files from one home network machine to another

    Hello,
I tried to copy files from one machine to another through a Home network and the network wouldn't let me access a directory saying I needed permission. How do I obtain this permission?
    Thankx

This is usually controlled from the C:>Users folder or the C:>Users>Username folder in Windows 7.

You will want to right click the Users folder and open up Properties, click Advanced sharing, put check mark to share folder, and change the permission settings to look like the picture. You may need to do this for the C:>Users>Username folder as well.

    Hello,
Thanks for responding. Maybe I misunderstood, but I didn't get any dialogue box with C:> Users.

However you got me to experiment and I found that if I "right clicked" the directory that I wanted to share, and selected "Properties" it led to a dialogue box which had a "Sharing" tab and an "Advanced" option that allowed me to specify share privileges; with who, and the type of sharing (Read/Write) that could occur.

I'd be glad to Rep you.
    Thanx

Yes right click to properties sorry I left that part out.

The sharing starts with the C:>Users folder which will get you into the Docs, Music, etc.

If you need access to the other Users folders then more work is required. :)
