"Local Area Connection" missing in "Change adapter Settings".. Plz hlp

    "Local Area Connection" missing in "Change adapter Settings".. Plz hlp


    I have to set up a Broadband connection. But Local Area connection icon is missing. Someone told "drivers" could be missing... I installed few. But the problem is as it was.. please guide me in this regards.. Thank you

    Hi and welcome to the Forum
    Is the Broadband connection working OK?
    Where are you looking for the icon? Can you post a screenshot of the location where you expect to see the LAN icon?

    I could Not set up the BroadBand Connection as I could not find LAN. However, I am connected to Internet via Wi-Fi

    Have you got a LAN socket on the laptop? If you completed your system spes that would be helpful. What is the Model and number of you Dell laptop and did it come wih Windows 7 Ultimate pre installed?

    Yes, LAN socket is there. Its Dell Inspiron 1545.. Service tag number 5RPP3BS. OS was not Pre-installed . I Installed the OS 2 weeks ago , prior to this it had Home-premium

    So it seems that the LAN is not being recognised. It may be you have a corrupt copy of Win 7 Ultimate. Where did your copy come from?

    Owww , I suppose It Could be Possible. Its Downloaded from unknown Source. Do you Suggest installing a different copy?

    Then I guess the Licence key for the Ultimate version arrived via the same uknown source. If that is so then on your confirmation of this i will post details of how to do a complete clean install of your copy of Windows 7! Let me know!
