Followed all the method of joining and setting up password etc but totally failed
Both PC's are running windows 7 home premium.
Any help here The most important part is to get the printer to share.

I still can't use Homegroup to share my printer, but instead installed it as a network printer.
To me Home Group is nothing but a conjumbled mess of B/S.
It took me forever to get it to work somewhat.
Britton 30 did you make sure the printer you want to share is installed on both computers and set to default?
On my systems Home Group would not work with a password I created. It would only work with passwords that Window 7 suggested and then shared with other computers. I didn't spend hours with this password thing; I spent many days. I have found nothing online or in our tutorials that address this password problem.
The Homegroup password isn't a problem at all, it's designed that way on purpose, it doesn't allow you to make a custom password, you can only use the one generated by the Homegroup when you set one up.
Britton, network printers are the only way to go, all the machines in my Homegroup received the printer driver via Windows update straight away with no other steps required.
The Homegroup is way more useful than you might imagine, IMO it's the only way to secure a network properly.
The Workgroup by design is flawed because ANY machine that connects to a common Workgroup has full access to all shared folders on all Workgroup machines, by creating a Homegroup you effectively create a Domain within the Workgroup which prevents file access by machines which are not a member of the Homegroup.
I'm not saying that Homegroup doesn't have it's little kinks, but believe me I have encountered and corrected most of those problems myself and they really aren't that hard to fix,...once you know how.
I really don't know the reasoning other than the passwords that Homegroup creates are just random high security type passwords with numbers with small and capital letters which makes them very hard to crack.
I've never read anything about being able to create your own passwords for Homegroup, it's always been that the password generated when you set up a Homegroup is the one to use.
I recently discovered that the extra files in peer networking are to blame for Homegroup wireless set up problems, I also found that setting the 3 peer networking services to Automatic and delayed start up fixes many problems associated with wireless machines not properly connecting to the Homegroup.
