    Ah this is the thing I mentioned in a previous post: the security tab is no more...

    I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium so had to opt for option 1 the download which I did. Still no security tab for my D drive though - exactly the same as before.

    Did you restart after you did Option 1 ?

    I believe we should do a reinstall.


    Added:

    On an explorer window click on Tools then Folder Options... On the folder options window click on the View tab.

    Is there a check next to " use simple file sharing (Recommended) " should be towards the bottom.

    Yes if we can't get the access back to Drive D .

    Have you tried doing a System Restore to the day before you lost access to the D drive ?

    Yes I did that after my first post in the thread but it didn't work cos it could not access a file

    Thanks Dude. I've now tried that but System Restore did not complete successfully because it could not access a file. So I disabled antivirus as instructed and tried again - still didn't Restore. I then went back to an earlier restore point but this still didn't Restore. The unspecified error is (0x80070005) if that means anything...
