Internet Connection Sharing help between Vista and Windows 7

    That is what I did previously. But I did it again, and the results were same.

    Note: The firewall was kept on.

    In post #17 you say: Recieved=4, so success!! Can vista ping win7? or can win7 ping vista?

    When I ping, it says "Destination host unreachable", and in Network and Sharing Center they mark each other as Unidentified Networks

    I preformed a tracert 169.254.xxx.xxx on both systems.

    Code:
    Traceing route to 169.254.xxx.xxx over a maximum of 30 hops
    
    1 Computer [169.254.xxx.xxx] reports: Destination host unreachable.
    
    Trace Complete
    This happens on both systems.

    Can vista ping itself?

    They can ping themselves perfectly fine.

    Try safe mode with networking (on both machines). Same problem?
    Are you sure crosscable is working correct?

    Sorry for not replying sooner.

    I ran both in safe mode, and when I try pinging, the same happens.

    I used another cable, and the same results appeared.

    Something interesting happened was that I typed in the incorrect 169.254 address, but it still pinged the other computer's address without me typing it in.
