Group Policy prevents installation of USB device - way to override?

    Hello,

I have a PC on the Active Directory, the LAN card of this PC has gone bad, and so it cannot connect to the network. I am trying to use a USB to ethernet adapter to connect PC back to the network, but the device installation is prevented by group policy (though PC is not on the network).

Is there a way to override the group policy with PC off the network so that the adapter can install?

    Thank you.

I've never tried this with a un-networked domain pc, but it's worth a shot. Trying gpupdate /force in command prompt.

Searching online I found this thread which suggests trying to delete the GP registry keys. Although I would be extremely cautious with this attempt. MAKE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY!

Thank you very much bulletng. I tried gpupdate /force, but it did not work off the network, so it seems it only works with networked PCs. I got the message below:

I will check out the other thread for deleting keys.

    Thank you!
