Forever ongoing network issues..
Despite the word network being in the title, I think this has something to do with the drivers. I installed windows 7 on a separate partition of my computer, dual-booting with vista. On first load, everything seemed to be working alright, except for the common "coprocessor" driver not found thingamajig. But to the point -
The internet is horrible. Before upgrading, my internet was almost 8 Mbps or MBps, I don't really know all the slang. Whichever is more reasonable, I'm assuming. Now it's down to maybe 500kb/s (another abbreviation problem). I updated the drivers, I've tried the command prompt disabling auto tuning, used internet speed software (speedconnect internet accelerator), and disabled QOS packet scheduler. I really have no idea what kind of adapter it is, it came with the computer. I know for a fact it's an atheros, but in device manager all it says is "Atheros 802.11 a/b/g/n dualband wireless network module" - so I've had to rely on windows update to, well, update it.
I can't really pinpoint what the exact problem is, except for the drastic decrease in performance. Often, it will drop the internet connection, then pick it up again. The drop is also preceded by a "lag" spike, as in the kind where it takes almost 30 seconds to load Google!
If you need more information, feel free to ask. I just didn't know what to include here since the problem is so broad.
