Thank you for clarifying that the LAN cable is not a "phone cord". :)
This is how I think it was set up before:
phone cord from wall to Westell Modem
Modem connected to computer by USB cable
Router connected by a cable to the computer...
Not real familiar with DSL connections, But I think the Router should connect to the Wetell Modem by ethernet cable, then by a second ethernet cable to the computer. Not sure you need the USB cable if you do it this way.
