Remote Desktop not working even though everything else is

I can transfer files, share directories, and do everything but remote desktop. It keeps telling me the credentials don't match.

I have the same username/password on both machines, both are running Windows 7 Ultimate, both are configured to use the same homegroup and both machines are working perfectly EXCEPT for remote desktop.

When I try to add a user in the Select User dialog I can only see user-A on machine-A, and user-B on machine-B. machine-A does not see user-B and machine-B does not see user-A, so I cannot possibly add myself as a user to RDP in the MMC settings.

I have followed all other "Windows 7 Homegroup Remote Desktop not working" threads and followed all guides to correcting this problem. Nothing works, and my credentials are still rejected.

What can I do to further gather support for this cripplingly frustrating issue?

EDIT: Any and all suggestions that do not result in RDP working over a network will be immediately rejected.

With that kind of comment in your post, you will probably not get much help. also I don't understand
how RDP could work on any medium except a network as it requires an IP or Name to be able to communicate.

I agree with Rich that the comment was not necessary as we are volunteering our services and are not obliged to help people.

When remotely connecting to a machine you can only log on using the credentials on that local machine.

For example to connect to machine-A from machine-B I would use the credentials of user-A (Subject to appropriate permissions)

If you could further explain your problem and possible provide a screenshot then I may be able to propose solution.

    Josh.

Was starting to type an answer to OP, a possible solution, but as there's not enough information given in original post to be absolutely sure the solution works I decided to forget the whole thing as my vanity would not like the rejection.

Where do these people come from?
