For this ongoing problem try going through the link below, it shows a way to fix this problem although there are potentially many different causes. The comments at the bottom of the link shows many more possible causes and solutions to this never ending problem.

Usually just updating the driver or firmware on the router will fix the problem, in other cases simply typing the default gateway into the IPv4 properties will fix it. The process is described in the link.

After following directions to fix the problem, if the problem isn't fixed please post the ipconfig/all from this machine and I will have a look at it. :)

You will want to turn DHCP back on for the wired connection, you can do this by going into the IPv4 properties of the Ethernet connection. Is there any reason why you require a static IP here?

Most likely you haven't typed the IP info in correctly for the static IP.

I manually entered the ip address that's why DHCP wasn't on, I suppose. When I selected the option "Obtain ip address automatically" the DHCP was turned on but the problem is still unsolved. I also don't know any technical terms like static ip so I don't have a reason to get static ip as a requirement.

Yes, entering the IP manually is called a static IP. If you enabled DHCP then please post the ipconfig/all again so I can see if anything changed. :)

From this you aren't getting anything from the router, have you tried resetting the router using the hidden button for resets?

It's fairly common for routers to lose either the WiFi or the Ethernet, one will work while the other won't.

By pressing reset button, will my modem reset its WEP WiFi key?
