How to switch between default ports ?

I'm using 2 different internet connections. One is via regular modem another using Data Card.

Because of unstable connections in my area, I've an habit of pinging any large site -t (yahoo, google) while I'm working online.

by default, my regular connection pings to x.x.x.1
Reply from x.x.x.1: Destination net unreachable (when I turn off the modem)

where as the USB port connected alternative port pings to x.x.x.2
Reply from x.x.x.2: Destination net unreachable

at times coming from Sleep Mode, some how my system considers USB port (x.x.x.2) to be the default port & my main port stops responding & all I get is Reply from x.x.x.2 destination unreachable command, which means I've to use my alternative connection or restart my system to start working on my main port.

Is there a way I can switch between the port, if in case system once again wrongly assumes .2 to be my default port ?

    * I'm not really good with the technical terms, in case you are not able to follow plz let me know.

Go to Start > Control Panel > (and depending if you're in Category view, click on Network and Internet, otherwise ignore this step) > network and sharing center > change adapter settings > and right-click and click Disable on the adapter that you no longer want active.

Alternatively you can click on the connections icon in the lower-right-hand corner of the screen, and click Open Network and Sharing Center to get that far instead of having to go through the control panel.

If this is what you're after, would you like this more streamlined? It's quite a few clicks.
