Wireless card may be broken - need checklist

    Hello everyone,

Over the last few months i have noticed my wireless internet on this PC deteriorating in download speeds. My speedtest results on this PC are around 2mb down, and close to 1mb up, shown here https://www.speedtest.net/result/2817704144.png
I used to be able to get around 5/6mb down on the PC.

On my laptop which is also connected through wireless, and in the same room as the PC, i can get around 6/7mb down, and around the same up (~1mb)

The wireless card i have in the PC is an Asus PCE-N15 11n Wireless LAN PCI-E Card, which is around 1.5 years old, with the up to date driver. I updated the driver few days ago, hoping it would help, but it hasnt.

I would like to know my options. Are there maybe some settings i could check or change?

Thanks for any help, let me know if you need more information.

    Hello,

Check the setting of your Asus adapter and try changing the wireless mode, if it's setup to a default which is a mixed mode, fiddle with the setting, try the N (if your router supports this mode), or G/N. You may do the same thing in your router's setting by changing the wireless mode.

Hope to hear back from you with an update.

    thanks for reply

under computer management network adapters i clicked on the Asus one, and in the advanced tab the settings are as follows

    11n AdHoc - Disabled
    802.11d - Disabled
    Bandwidth - 20_40MHz
    Beacon Interval - 100
Preamble Mode - Short & Long
    Roaming Sensitivity Level - Low
    TX power Level - Auto
    Wifi Config - Performance
    Wireless Mode - IEEE 802.11b/g/n

the other options in wireless mode were IEEE 802.11b/g and IEEE 802.11b, i tried both but didnt seem to help my speedtests.
    Thoughts?
