cannot share internet (wired) from laptop with mobile devices

Basically I have a wired connection with internet, plugged into my laptop.

I have tried the following programs to set up a virtual wifi connection so that my htc desire hd and iphone 3gs can connect to it and use the internet..

    - Virtual Wifi Router
    - Virtual Wifi manager
    - Virtual Router plus

I can connect to the network fine on BOTH devices although no internet access is there...

firewall disabled, the local wired connection is appearing shared with the virtual wifi adapter...

please can somebody help find a solution?

As far as I know there is not much support for the configuration you are trying to set up although I would think the best chance is using the Virtual Router software or the directions in the link> http://lifehacker.com/5369381/turn-y...reless-hotspot

It may require using static IP's on the IPv4 properties interface but some experimenting may be required.

From what I understand, you want to share your wired internet connection wirelessly to your mobile phones correct?

Here's my picture tutorial so it's easy to follow:

First and foremost, bookmark this page and scroll down to where it has the list of commands: About the Wireless Hosted Network (Windows)

1.) Go to your Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change adapter settings
cannot share internet (wired) from laptop with mobile devices-untitled4.jpg
If the "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" is missing, run command prompt as administrator and follow the picture below:
cannot share internet (wired) from laptop with mobile devices-capture3.jpg

This should make that virtual wifi adapter appear on the list.

    2.) Follow the pictures below:

cannot share internet (wired) from laptop with mobile devices-untitled.jpg

    Then

cannot share internet (wired) from laptop with mobile devices-capture.jpg

3.) If successful, you should have a working shared wired to wireless internet connection with your mobile phones

Hi there i followed this guide exactly and all the commands were entered correctly etc. The wireless ssid "theveterans" appears, although once connected to from my hrc dhd or iphone 3gs the same problem occurs, no internet connection.

I see in your last screenshot that you are connected to "theveterans" wirelessly via your computer, is that just a screenshot to show an example or?

Also, my wireless network connection 2 in adapter settings displays as unidentified device although it does show it's connected to the internet when double clicked.

    thanks

I created the "theveterans" SSID on my main laptop (my router's SSID is "KCEBAUTISTA"). Then I tested the "theveterans" connection on another laptop. It gets the Internet working. I would say to set it up again, but this time when the SSID appears on the mobile phone, connect to it then disconnect after 30 seconds then connect again. It "might" refresh the connection so you may get a higher chance of getting the Internet if you do that on the "theveterans" connection. Hope it works for you.
