Wake on LAN over the internet

    Hi All,

I know this been sent couple of times before . but i just want to clearify something about this WOL over the internet .

I have a NetGear-DGND4000. am not sure how good this is to do the above task.

but from looking around the internet I had a look on some toutorials. and this is what i been doing . corect me if i am doing something wrong.

1- created a static address for the WOL machine i want to wake up 192.168.0.50
    2-forwarded port 9 UDP
3- and i've done al lthe checks and made sure that the computer is able to wake up with the special packet as the toutorial is saying .

but i have no luck waking the machine up over the net but on my LAN i am able to do it with out a problem .

link to one of the toutorials i been looking at : How To: Wake on LAN / Wake on WAN - Step 1 - Enable Wake on LAN - SmallNetBuilder

if there is another way to do this please let me know .

one more thing can my router be suported with DD-WRT if anyone knows .

    Thank you

What IP address are you using to wake the device over the internet? Your router will most likely have NAT installed therefore you will need to use the public IP address of that network and not 192.168.0.50

If you type into Google 'What's my IP' you should receive your public IP address

    Hope This Helps,
    Josh
