Internet works for minutes, then diagnostic says DNS server invalid

Several months ago I had a vicious virus on the Asus laptop, despite having Norton 360. I used several malware cleaning programs to get rid of it, and it was working fine. When I moved to my new apartment and set up my Internet I have been unable to stay connected on the laptop for more than a few minutes without restarting. When I check for problems with the connectivity it says the DNS server is invalid. My work laptop and my boyfriend's laptop both connect to the home Internet without this problem. How can I fix it?

Welcome to Seven Forums,

Can you try to replicate your issue when booted to Safe Mode with Networking? Restart your computer, tap F8 then select this option.

Is this a wired or wireless issue? Have you tried both?
