No internet after fresh XP install

Hello, at my job, I was asked to wipe an old pc and reinstall a fresh copy of XP pro. I do this often so it wasn't a big deal.

This issue is that it will not connect to the internt at all, I am not sure if drivers need updated or what, but how would you do that if you have no internet connection. It doesn't have wireless either. It is an old Dell D510. When attempting to add the computer to our domain, it says it cannot connect to the domain controller, which I am sure has to do with no internet.

Why would a fresh install not be able to connect to the internet? Drivers? If so, what is the best route to update drivers.....when you have no internet connection, and the doesn't have wifi?

Did you install all the mobo drivers? Go to the mobo mfgr's site and pull the latest otherwise use the OEM driver disk that came with and them if needed look for updated drivers later.

Use a working PC that has Internet download the LAN drivers and save them to a USB Flash drive and move the drivers to the non working PC and install the drivers .

Was it installed from an image or a CD ?

Download all the drivers from the Dell web site, or use the drivers CD that came the Dell PC.

I had to downoad the ISO from the volume licensing center. There wasn't an option to download the drivers, just the ISO

Does the machine have local or no access at all? If it has local access then can you please follow this tutorial so that we can view your IP configuration as this may be causing a problem - Network Posting Tips

You must make sure that the correct proxy and DNS settings are applied to join the machine to a domain.

If you have no connection at all then the most likely cause would be a driver issue

Mike, one thing to consider is that the Service Packs must be applied before you try any updates.

    Very important.
