Wireless Connection

I'm having a problem with wireless. I have a new Dell Inspiron laptop 1545. I was able to set the wireless up no problem. Then the computer had 2 minor issues and i sent it back and they sent me a new one. When doing the same to connect wirelessly, it works in the same room as my router but when i go into the living room, it does not connect and can't find a wireless connection, (doesn't even list it). The first laptop i had worked fine. I called the router people first and spent hour and a half with them and came to the conclusion it was not my router. i called Dell.. they first had me download some drivers and said that would fix the problem. It DIDN't. I've contacted them NUMEROUS times and they tell me that i will have to talk to DELL ON CALL and pay for them to tell me what is wrong. I have a difficult time paying anything for a brand new computer. I have tried everything i can think of, read things on line and it still will not work in the living room and that is only 6-8 feet from the router. I have two other wireless gagets and they both work fine in the living room.
does anyone have any other ideas of what i could try? I did learn one thing though, I will never buy another Dell.
if anyone can give me some ideas to try i would very much appreciate it..
I run Vista Home BAsic, (which is new to me) and i have a Linksys router.
thanks
Carol

Carol,

This is the Windows 7 forum. Since you have a Dell laptop, and you are using Vista, I recommend going to the notebookreview forum.
