On my old Toshiba laptop my internet connection is through a numbered port, yet on my brand new Toshiba the internet connection is through a proxy server.Could someone please tell me why the difference and the pro's and con's of each. Why I ask is that when I booted up the new machine this morning I was unable to connect to the internet and all that appeared on the screen was "Proxy Server Not Responding".Switched the computer off, waited a few minutes and when I booted up again everything worked fine.
