Native WiFi Default Profile for home network

I just moved my 4 year old Dell desktop into a different room and upgraded to Windows 7. I purchased a wireless network adaptor to connect to my home network. I set up the network profile on my Dell and typed in the password, but unfortunately every time my computer goes into sleep or is rebooted I have to reconnect to the network manually. In the network Properties I've clicked on "Connect Automatically" and typed in the password. But, and this is really strange, every time I reboot or come out of sleep the password has to be reentered and the "connect automatically" is no longer clicked. Am I crazy? Has anyone else encountered this? I suppose I'm missing something really basic, but am not sure what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am sure that you are well beyond this error now. Regardless, I am replying because I need help for the same issue. Even if I end up solving it myself, I will post my answer in this thread.

I plan to take the steps outlined in this post next. If that doesn't work, then I will have to read Microsoft developer documentation on the Native WIFI profile and hope that a deep understanding leads me to the solution.

I'm not a Windows developer nor am I a .NET developer, but I do know programming, so I'm hoping it will make sense regardless.
