Set network location to HOME

How do I set my network location, which is currently "public" to "Home"?

open your network and sharing centre (by starting to type 'network and sharing center' in the searchbox at the bottom of your startmenu), then click on the link shown at the left end of the red arrow - that should bring up the window pointed at below.

That option is not available for me. This is a wireless setup, and it says Public, but nowhere can I find any facility to change it to home.

There is no link to click. There is no way in from network and sharing, or any control panel option.

Network type selection can not be made before your computer is actually connected to the router / network. Your screenshot shows you are not connected; that's why Seven doesn't let you change the type. No network connected, nothing to change.

Connect first to an available network, after that you can change the type to Home, Work or Public by clicking the link. Clicking the icon let's you change the name and / or icon of that network.

I understand all that. I have a connection to my network "morgannet". I understand how routers/switches work, having worked with computers since 1981.

That said, no matter what I did I couldnt get windows to recognise the network (even including reinstalling windows), and since my PS3 which was only 15 feet away is getting a 35% signal (with a line of sight view to router), I decided to fit off some cables in the lounge to the office where the comms equip is.

I have now reverted back to the wired gigabit connection which works. Solved two problems with one stone. I wont bother with wireless at this stage.

Thanks for your help.
