Cannot get IP address

Hi all,
My daughter and son-in-law were living with us, sharing my router for their internet access on their Win 7 x64 PC. Everything worked fine, including access to my home network for file sharing and storage.
They moved into their own house yesterday and got their internet service installed. The PC that was fine on my network will not get an IP on their new service. A laptop works fine both wired and wireless, as do their smart phones. The service uses a 2wire router (same firmware as mine).
Is it possible their computer is still looking for the previous connection? It seems so strange....on the weekend it worked fine on my network, they turned it off, moved it and now it won't connect.
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Further to this, I brought the computer back to my house and it connected without issue.

First step would be to make sure that you're adapter isn't configured with a static address. Right click on the little network icon on your tray or type "network and sharing center" in your start menu to open your network and sharing center. Then click on change adapter settings, local area connection (or whatever adapter you're trying to use), click properties, click ipv4, click properties on that and make sure the radio button is checked for "obtain IP address automatically". If this is all set properly you should be fine to recieve DHCP from your home router. If this doesn't work, go to your command prompt and type "ipconfig" and post your results here and we will help you further. Also, make sure your cables are all good and plugged in properly.

Once you've tried these things, if you still have no connection, it may be time to contact the ISP.

Yes, one of the first things I did was to check that it wasn't configured with a static address and everything looked good. I have tried everything possible I have found online...winsock fix, flushing, renewing, etc.
The release/renew commands wouldn't work at their house because it doesn't see the Ethernet cable at all...tells me 'network cable is unplugged'.
I plugged in my laptop to that same network cable and all was good.

When I run ipconfig/all when the PC is plugged into their network cable, it tells me DHCP is not enabled, but it gets an IP address no problem on my system.

My next step will be connecting the PC to another cable on another port of the router to see what happens.

Use a laptop and connect thru ethernet to the new router. Try to get to the router's config page (Usually 192.168.1.1 or something similar) and check the router's settings. I don't expect a problem because the laptop seems to work, but you never know.

Considering that this is ethernet, and not wireless, you shouldn't have configuration issues. This one is a stumper.

Having said that, check the contacts inside to ethernet plug on the PC.

Yep, already accessed the router's config page. It's a 2wire - 192.168.100.254 - in case you ever need it.
The router is the same brand as I have at home, same firmware...and all settings are identical.
It seems to me there is only one possibility....that there's something about the cable, or router port, or both, that the PC doesn't like.

I think the cable is eliminated cuz your laptop works with it, but try replacing it anyhow. But, yeah. Check the router port.

If you open an elevated Command-Prompt and type: 'IPCONFIG /ALL' (within the ') what result do you get? Do they match up with DHCP sent from the router?
