Windows 7: Slow LAN copy Speed on Win 7 64 machine

Slow LAN copy Speed on Win 7 64 machine

I have 3 pcs on a network with an O2 wireless box 5 as the router.
4GB Thinkpad R60 running Windows Ultimate (32bit)
4GB Toshiba M5 running windows ultimate (32 bit)
4GB HP 8440p running windows professional (64 bit)

Copying a 1 GB file form M5 to R60 takes about 80 seconds with task manager reporting network utilisation of 90+%
Copying the same file from M5 to HP was estimated at around 50 minutes (network utilisation at around 3 - 4%( before I killed it.

I presume this is a setting in the HP machine but which one or is it a MS device to get me to upgrade from Win 7 Professional?

PS I've tried the suggestion in Extremely slow file transfers and network access... which recommends In the Advanced tab for my network adapter, I changed IPv4 Checksum Offload to Disabled. but that actually made things marginally worse

I despair about this M$ stuff.
I read some other posts and tried disabling IPv6 (untick the box) and speeds immediately improved.
So I rebooted and it was still great (same speed as the R60 to M5 transfer) so it is now solved.
Hope this helps someone else
