Windows 7: Windows was unable to find Homegroup

Windows was unable to find Homegroup

From a Windows 7 laptop (TPXIC, user BobAdmin) I am trying to access files on a Windows 7 desktop machine (GIGAWIN7SSD). The laptop can see many directories on the desktop, but can see the files in only one directory - "Car MP3s" (in the desktop's D: drive). It can see the Temp directory on the desktop's C: drive but cannot see the files in it ("Windows cannot access \\GIGAWIN7SSD\Temp, You do not have permission to access \\GIGAWIN7SSD\Temp. etc.).

I figured that if I make the sharing of the Temp directory look just like the sharing of the "Car MP3s" directory (in quotes only because of the blank) that my problem would be "solved" (in quotes because it seems to me that the current sharing setup should work).

The sharing of the "Car MP3s" directory looks like this:

The sharing of the Temp directory looks like this:
Administrators - Owner
BobAdmin - Read/Write
"John Doe Admin" - Read/Write

It seems to me that since BobAdmin is the user on the laptop, and BobAdmin has Read/Write access to Temp, that I should be able to see the files in the desktop's C:\Temp directory. But, whatever, an obvious difference between the two is that Homegroup has no access to Temp. But when I try to add Homegroup to the list of sharers of Temp I get the message "Windows was unable to find Homegroup". But the desktop machine does belong to Homegroup! And how was I ever able to add Homegroup to the sharers of "Car MP3s"?

Thanks, Bob
