In the 'network and sharing center', it says I have internet connection over wired internet. However, there's a big red X going from 'multiple networks' to 'internet'. If I disable and then enable the connection, it will work for about a minute before going back to the red X issue. When trying to connect to a website, I just get a nonspecific and generic 'could not connect to the internet' type error message. This is with a 'public' connection.
I've checked the drivers
, the ports, the wire, and the device manager and everything seems fine. The troubleshooter doesn't seem to think there's any issues.
Also I do not have access to the router settings or the router itself, so I can't try the old turning it off and on again trick that seems to solve just about everything. Any ideas?
