Ethernet Controller vanishes from Device Manager on reboot
I have a very strange problem on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64) system.
My Lan Connection is via a Marvel Yukon 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller on a ASUS P5W DH Deluxe MB.
Usually when I shut down for the night, I only put the system in SLEEP mode, thus each day I wake it up and all is well.
But occasionally I have to shut down or reboot the computer, like after installing updates or whatever.
When I do a full reboot, I lose my Lan Connection.
Go to Change Adapter Settings and the Local Area Connection icon is GONE! Worse yet, you cannot add a new on because if you go to the Device Manager you find that the controller DEVICE itself is missing!
Rebooting once or a hundred times does not fix this.
Just reinstalling the Marvel drivers does not fix this.
Apparently also doing the following seems to work once in awhile:
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig -flushdns
netsh winsock reset
I do all three, although I cannot say for sure if doing only one or two of those things would be enough.
Unfortunately, the next time I reboot I'm going to have to do this again...and again...and again.
Why?
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how to get my connection to stay put through reboots?
Thanks.
