    network issue?

hi i have been with orangebroadband fibre optic since aug 2013 and was geting a speed of 40mbps , we have got 3 computers 2 are desktop and a laptop the desktops are wired and laptop is wireless , i have been getting problems with the speed on my computer so i contacted orange after them doing some tests and telling me to change the router and cables my speed is still slow, i contacted them again today with the same issue they still said that the problem is my computer allthough the computer has been remastered 2 days ago ,
how can i tell if any hardware is faulty because this is getting me down my laptop and wifes computer are fine with speed , when i do a speed test at
    Code:
    http://www.speedtest.btwholesale.com/
i get a speed of around 22.54 download mbps , would this problem be the network card or just a issue with the service thanks

I don't think you have any hardware or software issues, if you did your results would be much worse.

The results you posted are within stated ranges and are at the higher end:
    Download speed: 31.74 Mbps
    Acceptable range: 12 Mbps-38.72 Mbps .

    Upload Speed: 8.49 Mbps
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 10 Mbps
What are the results using your laptop and your wife's machine?

The instructions on BTwhoesale are very good for testing purposes. Real world usage will vary based on number of connected devices and traffic.

Before beginning the test, please ensure:
    1. Your computer is plugged into the broadband line to be tested. This tester may not work on iPads/Tablets, smartphones or other mobile devices.
    2. Your computer is directly connected to your modem/router via an Ethernet Connection (i.e. not via a wireless or powerline adapters).
    3. Any wireless adapter in your computer is switched off.
    4. Close any programs that may be running on your computer. This includes any background programs such as anti-virus software, corporate VPNs, peer2peer clients etc. (Please ensure you re-enable any anti-virus software after you have finished testing).
    5. Reboot your modem/router by powering it off, waiting one minute, and then powering it up again. Wait for any lights on the router to stabilise before starting the test.
    6. Restart your browser.
    7. Ensure no other people or devices (e.g. broadband-connected TV set-top boxes) are using the broadband line to be tested.
    8. Please note, it can take up to 10 days for your broadband line to train up to its full speed. So bear in mind that any speed test during this period may not reflect the true long-term speed of your broadband.

thank you for posting the other machine spped tests, but I'm a bit confused. You have posted two very different results and a bit of conflicting information.

post#1: ... my laptop and wifes computer are fine with speed
    post#3:
    Download speed: 31.74 Mbps
    Acceptable range: 12 Mbps-38.72 Mbps .

    Upload Speed: 8.49 Mbps
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 10 Mbps
Speed test will vary, so that's not really a concern. Conflicting information only makes it more difficult to resolve an issue. The data you just posted tells me that all three machines have nearly identical throughput.

If you followed each step in post#4 then you're getting clean test results. If you skipped one or more, then the test results are 'dirty'. There are important considerations in those steps that will help you get accurate data.

I don't think I'll be able to help much more than what I've already posted. EE/Orange will be your best bet for resolving this issue as I don't see the data pointing to your side since all three machines exhibit idenitcal results.

I hope that you will be able to get the rate (38Mbs) stated by EE/Orange.

thank you for your help when doing a speed test on the same site my computer got download of 41.35 and my wife got a download speed of 22.61 , we rerun the test and the speed went down to 21.00 on mine and my wifes went down to 18.32, this is within a minute between the tests , so is there something wrong with the speed test server or is the line ? we have contected orange again over this issue last night , they now say it is not the computer and they also said that they will log a fault with bt and we will be connected with 48hr , the last time they said they log a problem they did not there fore we phoned up and complained , if no fault has been logged then we are thinking of coming of from orange contract or no contract the support is ridiculous , thanks
