    How can I remove "Add Network Place" in Windows 7?

    "Add Network Place" in Windows 7?

    I have no idea what I did to cause this but I noticed today that there is a "Add Network Place" shortcut under an 'Unspecified' category in "Network" (see attached screenshot). This icon was not present before (like maybe a week ago). If I click on the icon it launches the Add Network Location Wizard. There is defiantly something fishy going on because it is using a legacy name "Place" instead of "Location" and a legacy icon. I have tried all the ways I can to disable the Add Network Location Wizard but it is no use. I cannot get rid of this. and information on Google is sparse. That, or I'm nit using the correct search terms.

    Has anyone seen this before? Any idea how to get rid of it?

    Hey darthpenguin this worked for me.

    Goto:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

    Look for:
    "WebView"=dword:00000000

    The value needs to be:
    "WebView"=dword:00000001

    You need to logoff and logon again. This is a user setting not a machine setting, no reboot required.

    This happened to me using Windows 7 Easy File transfer from a Vista machine.
