Internet dramatically slows down and needs a restart... very weird.
**This ended up really long.. I couldn't summarize my problem any better. If you read this I'm buying beer next time
Hello. I have been a long time follower of this forum but this is the first time I'm actually posting here. I've been having this really weird internet problem and it's driving me crazy. So I figured this is the best place to ask for help. I'll try to explain it the best I can and note what I've tried to fix it so far:
Recently, about a month now perhaps, when I logged into Windows for an extended amount of time, youtube started acting weird. It would load the whole page, but leave the videos either completely blank, or blank with the flash controls. Or it would load 1 second of video then end. It would literally take 10+ page refreshes or duplicating the page on a new tab to get a video to work. After double checking that it's not youtube, I was convinced it's my Flash installation. I have been using firefox at the time, so I switched to chrome that used it's own version of flash. Same problem. Tried IE, Opera and Safari, all of them had the same problem.. Uninstalled-reinstalled Flash, downgraded to an older version, nothing worked. Emptying browser cache also did not work. In the end, I made a backup and re-installed windows completelly, deliberately not adding any software at all other than Chrome. Guess what? After letting it sit for a while same problem with youtube. Restarting Windows always fixed the problem for me for a while, until it suddenly came back again.
I'm trying really hard to trace the problem, and I'm pretty experienced with computers, I just can't trace it.. I can't figure out what is wrong. I always try to find a pattern and several times I thought I got it but no, it seems to really be random. If I keep trying the youtube pages it might just bug my whole browsing and every website will load slow. But then a download will max out my bandwidth normally. I'm puzzled. I've kinda ruled out a hardware failure because it doesn't make sense to get it fixed with a reboot only for a short while, at least in my books. I also have OSX and Ubuntu installations that don't have the problem. How can a software problem still remain after reformatting though is a mystery to me. Any experienced folk that could enlighten me will be worshiped as a God Thnx
edit: any specs needed will be provided as asked
