I need help with a DNS server not responding error

While a lot of the time my wireless internet works well, it on occasion drops out and only shows a connection to the Local Area Network. This happens randomly. When I run the Windows Network Adapter troubleshooting tool it informs me that it can't find the source of the error, while Internet connection troubleshooting tool tells me that the DNS server is not responding. Usually after a period of time, anywhere from two minutes to three hours, it comes back on. So while its working fine often, I'd rather it not happen in the first place. Can anyone here help me with a solution?

My network adapter is a TP-Link TL-WN951N. The router is a TP-Link TD-VG3631.

I have attached the results of ipconfig /all and a Xirrus connection test when the internet has not been working.

Cheers!

Hello and welcome Dexter look I am no expert and run TP-Link stuff myself I have found on the odd occasion just powering off the modem/router for 20-30 seconds then rebooting the thing has a "calming" effect on it.
I assume you have checked all the drivers etc etc I like to get the manufacturers ones as I don't really rely on the Windows updating feature.
and if you haven't done these yet try them

Hmm I don't know if that is going to make much difference mate if the machine is going to constantly pick up the wifi connection.

What I would be trying is disabling the wifi in the problem machine while leaving it to connect to others have a look at this How to Disable the Original WiFi adapter - For Dummies it might offer some solution you can always reverse the process should you want wifi back.

Your IPCONFIG is only showing your DNS server(s) as being your gateway, and nothing. I would statically set a primary and secondary DNS server as part of troubleshooting. Go into your adapter properties and manually set your DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and see if that helps.

Hi, I gave that a go and it doesn't appear to be doing anything? It came up with the same DNS server not responding error.

I would do a factory reset on your modem and just set it up again from scratch. There is usually a button you can hold down for 30 seconds to accomplish this. Make sure you put a WPA2 password on it and disable WPS. If after a clean reconfiguration of your device it still doesn't work I would look at swapping hardware. Also, make sure you laptop functions normally on other wireless networks so we know it's not your computer.

I've already tried my laptop, phone etc and they work fine so its not those. It already has a WPA2 password, and I'll double check whether WPS is turned off. I'll give resetting the modem a go, thanks! Its experienced issues in the past that I thought were resolved, so I may just replace it.
