Media streaming over home network problems
I will start out with what I have set up. My home network currently consists of a Linsys EA4500 Router with a 500 GB Buffalo drive connected to it as a network drive. I have 2 laptops (a Dell 9300 & an HP mini) both running Windows 7, A Samsung smart TV & Blu Ray player. I also have a Samsung S4 phone.
As far as software for the media sharing there is the Samsung Link which I am new to. I just know there are limitations. I am able to watch some movies that are on my network drive via my phone using a screen mirroring app from Samsung. It works fairly well. The major issue is the phone has to stay local when a movie is playing through it and most of the time the movie will randomly stop due to "network issues" as the pop up on my TV tells me.
I have been trying to work out this issue for about a year now. I have visited the SamyGo fourms and have had little luck there as most of the info there is a bit above my head and the folks there have not been very helpful. I have tried also to use the "play to" function on WMP to no avail. At one time a long time ago it worked for a little bit but no longer.
The main problem I am having now is not allowing my to view any video of any kind on my network drive via my TV directly from my network drive. Really its as if there is no videos of any kind available on my drive. However there are about 30 videos or so on the drive that I can watch either on my laptops or my phone.
Now I have heard of this Samba but I have no idea what its all about. I just want to be able to watch the movies I have on my drive on my TV a simply as possible. PLEASE HELP!!!
