IP conflict error

IP conflict error. Another computer on this network has the same IP address as this computer. Contract your network administrator for help resolving this issue. More details are available in the Windows System event log. HELP !!!

This is pretty straight forward, like the error states:

How are your IP addressed being handed out?
Automatically, using DHCP? or manually, typed in?

If obtained via DHCP it may be worth running the attached application below which will automatically will automatically retrieve a new unused one.

Note   Note
The application will restart the machine after completion and any static IP configuration will be reset.


Typically this error is presented by a static IP conflict since DHCP should hand out a new IP address if a conflict is detected.

32 BIT & 64 BIT Conflict.
Currently I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I'm planning to install Win 7 Ultimate x86. I tried to do it with a USB stick (through Windows 7 USB/DVD Tool). But it says the ISO image aint valid. Is it because its 32 and the installed one is a 64 bit?

My laptop won't work with the Ethernet cable and say it has an IP conflict. All my computers have an IP address starting with 192 and the laptop has an IP address starting with 169. Am on a laptop running XP because my new Windows 7 laptop will not connect via this ethernet connection. I'm at a hotel so have no access to the hotels router. My new Windows 7 laptop won't connect via this same ethernet cable because it says someone else on the network has the same IP address....
