New router and Slow download speeds. Hi,
I just purchased a new router the Sweex LW300
And now i only get this from speedtest;
My old router got me this;
I realise it's a different server but i'd have to plug my old router back in to do it to the current server "Birmingham"
Is there anything in the router settings that could be causing this?
(These tests was done when nothing else was connected)
Current Firmware: 1.1.3.4 (Dec 4,2007 15:39:47)
There is no Firmware update from the manufacturers website either so the one it has no must be the latest....
Do you need to me to post my Command Prompt: ipconfig /all
Let me know and i will.
Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Krimian. | My System Specs |

Why would you need to use your old router to pick a different location for Speedtest? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 15 L502x OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core i7-2670QM Memory 8GB DDR3 PC3-10600 Graphics Card Intel HD Graphics 3000 + GeForce GT 540M Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Hard Drives 1TB 5400RPM Seagate |

You didn't say you were using wireless, but I'll go on that you are for now.
In your 3rd screenshot, have that changed to short preamble.
This will not give quicker speeds, but it's recommended to use WPA2. For that, you need to change both your adapter(s) for it and on screenshot 4, the data encryption type to AES. Much more secure.
You don't want the information in screenshot 5 to be public. Delete that one.
Make sure the client(s) are set to use n mode. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

So what is needed to get optimal speeds?
I've changed Short Preamble to Long Preamble | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number ASUS - Self Built OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor, S AM3 (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz Motherboard Asus M4A79XTD EVO, AMD 790X, AM3, PCI-E 2.0(x16), DDR3 1333/ Memory 4096MB RAM Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 Sound Card Digital Audio Interface (SB Audigy) Monitor(s) Displays Hanspree Xm 19" Widescreen and a No Make 15" Screen Resolution 1440 x 990 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G5 Laser Mouse PSU EZCool 700W Case Xclio A380 Plus Cooling Air Cooled (Huge Fans) Hard Drives Samsung 1 TB

lol I said to short preamble.
Nothing really should be necessary to get best speeds. You can also try changing the radio channel to another in case interference from neighbors or phones are causing packet loss and thus, slower perceived speeds. There are 13 channels in the UK. Try one furthest away from what you're using now to test. Change it a few times and see if there's any difference. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |
