Trying to figure out how to log profile usage for Windows 7

So basically, my school is having issues with PC's being trashed, dropped, and having disc drives removed. Specifically the Laptops, but the desktops have been dropped too lol

In order to solve this issue, I feel the only realistic way to go about this is to have a log for the profiles. It is a server, with each student having a different ID, and I want the ID to record the MAC addresses of the PC's it uses. Any realistic way to go about this?

It's a combonation of Windows 7 Professional x64 and x32, with mostly (or all, not completley sure) x64.

As far as HDDs being stolen, the easy fix is to physically lock them into the PC (lock and key). The PC can also be mounted physically so they cannot be picked up, unless of course they absolutely need to be mobile for whatever purpose you may have (learning, adding/removing hardware often).

Aside from that, if I'm reading your post correctly, you want to find out who is using a computer at what time because you think that will help you figure out who is stealing parts and/or dropping them? Realistically, that would be a nightmare because I don't have to sign into a computer to steal its hard drive or drop it.

What exactly are you looking to do as far as logging their actions if its not only for the purpose of finding out who is stealing stuff?

If I'm totally off here, feel free to correct me but we need a bit more information to move forward.

The CD drives are being stolen. While you don't need to login to steal one, it would be pretty suspicious to take a laptop, remove a drive, and put it back. And this is a middle school, so no kid's going to be able to pull it off in COMPLETE secrecy.

I need a software that can log the times a computer was used and by who that can be checked quickly. It WILL reduce vandalism and theft of school property. Trust me.
